NXP, Intrinsic-ID team in collaborative agreement to enhance chip security Friday 22 January 2010 | 11:00 AM CET

US semiconductor provider for security services NXP has entered a collaborative agreement with semiconductor intellectual property (IP) and services provider Intrinsic-ID.

Under the terms of the deal, NXP is set to license and deploy a hardware intrinsic security (HIS) solution in its SmartMX security chip technology. The partnership enables NXP to utilize Intrinsic-ID’s Quiddikey solution to secure SmartMX-powered assets against cloning, tampering, theft-of-service and reverse engineering.

Quiddikey employs a unique ID that is intrinsic to each device, using only standard components. Quiddikey thus provides key storage to secure semiconductor products against common security breaches. NXP SmartMX products incorporating Intrinsic-ID Quiddikey are targeted to enter the market in 2011.
