VeriSign rolls out new VeriSign Trust Seal Wednesday 24 February 2010 | 11:25 AM CET

Internet infrastructure services provider VeriSign has released the new VeriSign Trust Seal, a service that addresses websites that do not require SSL certificates. These include sites that outsource their shopping cart or payment functions to third-party providers and those that do not collect sensitive personal information.

With a focus on the identification of web sites that compromise consumer safety, the VeriSign Trust Seal is set to offer users protection by authenticating the business and domain control, scanning for malicious software (malware) as well as providing seal-in-search results.

Additional features of the VeriSign Trust Seal, including malware scanning, will be available with the entire suite of VeriSign's products, including SSL and Extended Validation (EV) SSL Certificates.

The VeriSign Trust Seal can be recognized by the VeriSign checkmark circle with the words “VeriSign Trusted”.
