China Unicom partners Agricultural Bank of China for m-banking services Monday 23 August 2010 | 11:25 AM CET

Mobile operator China Unicom has entered a partnership with financial services company the Agricultural Bank of China (ABC) to provide the latter with personal finance, e-commerce, mobile banking and mobile payments services.

Under the terms of the deal, the services provided by the bank are set to enable China Unicom subscribers to store a prepaid card account on their mobile devices in order to make deposits by transferring funds “over-the-air” from their ABC bank account.

In 2009, China Unicom and China UnionPay agreed to promote mobile payments in the country through a mutual collaborating on mobile marketplace, application services, 3G mobile e-commerce, multi-channel payment, logistics and payment instrument confirmation.

China Unicom's services include nationwide GSM and CDMA mobile networks, long-distance, local calling, data communication, internet services as well as IP telephony.
