French NFC systems provider Inside Contactless has teamed up with Connecthings, a developer of NFC, GPS and location-based technologies, to jointly develop the Wave-Me NFC services platform, Reuters reports.
Under the terms of the deal between the two companies, Inside Contactless is to deliver its NFC technology know-how, NFC hardware, loadable application-level software for the handset, as well as Wave-Me products, the same source reports.
Carriers and third-party service providers can use the Wave-Me technology to provide subscribers with access to a suite of consumer services and applications via their mobile devices. When 'waved' near a Wave-Me NFC tag, the Wave-Me technology automatically simulates a series of keystrokes. Wave-Me tags could also contain phone numbers or URLs to send SMS messages or send and retrieve information from online platforms.
With Connecthings' software solution AdTag, outdoor advertisers, public transport companies, public authorities, museums, event organizers, retailers and brands are able to create location- and time-based services, as well as associate tags and services and manage tags and application life cycles.
Inside Contactless develops open-standard contactless payment and NFC semiconductors and software. The company has already delivered over 300 million contactless platforms worldwide to customers and partners, such as payment card and mobile phone manufacturers, systems integrators and financial institutions.
