Mitek, Fiserv team up for mobile cheque deposit service Tuesday 28 July 2009 | 02:25 PM CET

Image analytics and mobile document capture applications company Mitek Systems has entered an OEM agreement with financial services technology provider Fiserv for Mitek's Mobile Deposit application.

The application allows customers to deposit their personal or business cheques using a mobile phone camera while also allowing financial institutions to accept cheques deposited via camera-equipped phones. The product is to be made available for Apple’s iPhone as well as for selected BlackBerry and Windows Mobile handsets.

When depositing a cheque, consumers initiates a mobile banking session, input the deposit amount and take a photo of the front and back of the cheque. The software captures the cheque image and prepares it for transmission to the bank. Before transmitting the cheque image, Mitek's IMagePROVE technology automatically corrects image distortions and skewing and confirms that it meets accepted Cheque 21 image quality standards.
