Obopay launches iPhone application Friday 11 December 2009 | 09:14 AM CET

Obopay, a US mobile payments company, has made its m-payments application for the iPhone available from the Apple App Store.

With Obopay's application, iPhone users will be able to send money with a US phone number, view full transaction history, set up their account to automatically deposit the funds that they receive into their own bank account without having to manually intervene, receive a Push Notification when they get a request for money and also check the status of that request.

Parents can use the application to send money to their children, as well as set up controlled accounts for the latter and also schedule recurring "allowance" payments into the account. Teens will access the received money at ATMs or merchant locations with a prepaid card with their name embossed on it. Obopay offers iPhone users a companion MasterCard prepaid card, enabling them to check the available balance and recent transactions.

With the Obopay system, consumers and businesses can purchase, pay, and transfer money through mobile phone using Obopay's mobile application, text message, widget, or the internet. In August 2009, Obopay partnered Nokia for the launch of the Nokia Money mobile financial service which provides consumers with access to basic financial services via their mobile devices.
