PaymentPin to enable phone-based transactions on entertainment websites Tuesday 1 September 2009 | 11:28 AM CET

PaymentPin, a Canadian developer of online micro-payment services, has been selected by Mochi Media online gaming website, the Lavalife dating site and Tagged.com social networking platform in the US to enable online shoppers to pay for online services the three websites offer.

Via the PaymentPin service, users can pay for their online transactions using their home or mobile phone by inserting a PIN. Thus, internet users can transact without a credit card by adding the charges to their phone.

By accessing PaymentPin's web portal, merchants can monitor activity, payout totals and the number of users. The company's payment service is aimed at consumers of online entertainment and services including gaming, virtual worlds, reality TV shows, social networks and dating sites and who are reluctant to use credit cards online because of fraud-related fears. The company processes landline transactions across the US and Canada as well as mobile micro-payments across 25 countries and 105 carriers in North America, Europe and Australia.

Mochi Media's network powers over 14,000 games on over 30,000 websites reaching an audience of 100 million gamers. Tagged is the third largest social network in the US, with over 80 million members worldwide.
