Postilion to provide payments platform for Zapa Technology Monday 27 July 2009 | 08:36 AM CET

Self-service banking and payment processor Postilion has won a contract from software consulting company Zapa Technology to deliver its payments platform for the latter's mobile prepaid top-up, loyalty and gift card processing services.

Under the terms of the agreement, Zapa will make its system available as a white-label service to retailers across Ireland, the UK and continental Europe. Zapa will implement contactless and near-field communication technology in order to achieve its customer acquisition plans. Its ZAPA TAG incorporates an NFC sticker for mobile phones, which can collect loyalty points. In order to redeem an offer, use a service or gather loyalty points, users must wave an enabled phone across the ZAPA terminal at the retailer's POS. Zapa manages loyalty points and contactless transactions and offers detailed reports for usage analysis. As part of an initial phase of the project, Zapa is to roll out the service in Ireland, with other European markets to follow.
