US online payments services provider ProPay has released a new m-payment platform, provisionally dubbed Zumogo (pronounced "Zoo-MOE-Go"), in a bid to enable customers to carry out payments by using their smartphones.
The m-payment platform is built on ProPay's Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS)-compliant ProtectPay system, which combines encryption and tokenization capabilities. In addition, no sensitive payment data is stored on the customer's smartphone or in the merchant's systems.
The Zumogo platform is currently available for the iPhone and for Android-powered devices. In addition, ProPay is expected to make the Zumogo app available for Windows Phone 7-based phones by the end of Q1 2011.
In a recent development, ProPay has inked a contract with US e-commerce services provider 3DCart, in a bid to implement its payment processing system into 3DCart’s e-commerce platform.
