UK-based developer of mobile applications for banking, payments and debt management Telrock has teamed up with UK and Ireland energy retailer Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) for the launch of a mobile bill payment service.
The software is set to enable SSE customers to confirm whether their energy bill is accurate and make payments directly via their mobile phones. Thus, SSE's smartphone and iPad customers download and register the app from the iTunes store and then respond to the payment request directly in the app. For non-smartphone customers, the company offers the option of a text messaging service.
Telrock’s mobile payment applications include the textDebit app, which is set to offer customer account management functionality, as well as payment handling and alerting capabilities. Users of Telrock mobile applications include banks and utility companies, such as UK-based financial services provider Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and British Gas.
SSE supplies electricity and gas to around 10 million homes and businesses in the UK and Ireland.
In February 2011 , Global decision management services provider FICO has inked a contract with Telrock to enable its clients to use Telrock’s text and smartphone applications to carry out mobile payments.
