US enterprise and mobile software company Sybase has entered a partnership with global communications services integrator Orange Business Services. Under the terms of the deal, the two companies are set to provide joint mobile device management as a managed service to enterprises who want to control their mobile assets.
Orange Business Services is set to leverage Sybase's enterprise device management platform in order to enable enterprises to consolidate their global mobile assets (devices and SIM cards), implement a mobile security policy, deploy mobile applications and control wireless spending. This device management service is hosted in the Orange network and can easily accessed by enterprises that requires cross-operator, cross-device management.
Orange Business Services uses Sybase's mobility platform to support the new managed service with mobile device management for device inventory, corporate settings, upgrades and distribution, application management and email control. Also, a Mobile Security component enforces access codes, establishes "lock/wipe policies, encrypts devices and data cards, delivers firewall and antivirus applications, and controls mobile access to corporate applications.
