Mobile operator T-Mobile Macedonia has teamed up with Margento, a provider of mobile transactions solutions, to offer mobile payment services for its customers.
Under the terms of the deal, T-Mobile Macedonia customers are set to be able to use their handsets in order to pay for goods and services in restaurants, coffee bars and shops. For post-paid consumers, goods and services bought via the new mobile payment system will be charged to their monthly bill, while pre-paid customers will pay by linking up their phone number to their bank accounts.
The m-payments system is currently being piloted at selected locations in the Macedonian capital Skopje. The service is expected to become available throughout Macedonia at the beginning of 2011.
T-Mobile Mac is also planning to introduce mobile payment service in markets, parking lots, petrol stations, pharmacies and taxicabs.
