Zoompass rolls out mobile contactless payments trial Thursday 4 March 2010 | 10:54 AM CET

Canadian mobile commerce company EnStream has released a wireless payment sticker that is set to allow its users to make their store purchases using only their mobile handset.

The Zoompass Tag is a wireless payment device designed in the form of a sticker that can be attached to a mobile phone. By tapping a mobile device with the Zoompass Tag on a contactless reader at the point-of-sale, payment is automatically drawn from the user's Zoompass stored value account.

The Zoompass Tag and Zoompass application enable consumers to monitor their purchase transactions while their financial information is stored on secure servers, not on the mobile phone. Tim Hortons, McDonalds, Petro Canada and Loblaws are among the retail merchants who will accept payment through the Zoompass Tag.

The trial is offered to select Zoompass customers and is expected to last up to 3 months.
