An increasing number of New Zealand goods and services providers are chosen to provide customers with the ability to carry out online banking-based online payments, online news outlet nbr.co.nz reports.
To that end, the New Zealand Land Transport Authority, airline operators Air New Zealand and JetStar as well as online retailer Deal A Day have signed up for POLi, an online payment system for merchants and consumers provided by Australian online payments company Centricom. POLi allows online account holders to pay for products and services via their own bank’s online platforms by carrying out direct payments from their cheque or savings account.
Among thr banks whose internet banking platforms connect with POLi are Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ), Bank of New Zealand (BNZ), ASB, TSB Bank, Kiwi Bank and Westpac.
To carry out an online payment using POLI, customers select "internet banking" as payment option at the checkout and chose their own bank from a list. First-time customers must first install the POLi browser. Once customers receive confirmation that their payment has been debited, they are redirected to the initial retailer’s website.
