UK-based payment processor HSBC Merchant Services and payment processing services developer Realex Payments have launched a new online payment solution, dubbed Global Iris. Furthermore, Realex Payments has been selected as the payment gateway partner for HSBC Merchant Services. The six year deal involves Realex Payments providing a fully managed gateway solution to HSBC Merchant Services new and existing client base.

Global Iris enables merchants to process an online transaction without having to see the customer’s card. The card details are taken over the phone and the merchant can input them directly into the virtual online terminal.

When a customer wants to make a purchase on the merchant’s own website, the merchant has the option to direct the payment to an external provider or to handle the transaction on its own website. The cardholder is redirected to the Global Iris payment page to complete the payment. Furthermore, the ‘Remote’ option allows merchants to include an integrated payment page within their own website. This can be branded with the merchant’s logo.

Global Iris is a fully hosted service that incorporates all PCI requirements surrounding the data capture. The new product combines virtual payments with hosted and non-hosted payment pages, which merchants can select individually or as a suite, depending on their needs.

The 6-year deal involves the following:

• Realex Payments providing a fully managed and branded gateway solution called Global Iris to HSBC Merchant  Services new and existing clients.
• Realex Payments managing the migration of HSBC Merchant Services existing client book to the new service.
• The provision of a fully managed sales support function for Global Iris’ new business, focussed on growing the Global Iris book across all sectors and size of business. 
• Ongoing managed customer support for all Global Iris clients.

HSBC Merchant Services is subsidiary of Global Payments which provides electronic transaction processing services for merchants, Independent Sales Organizations (ISOs), financial institutions, government agencies and multi-national corporations located throughout the US, Canada, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.

Realex Payments has 5,000 retailers across industries including airlines, mobile carriers, utilities, insurance companies and gaming companies. Clients include Virgin Atlantic, Vodafone, The AA, GlaxoSmithKline Direct, Chain Reaction Cycles and Clinton Cards. The company processes nearly EUR 12 billion a year for merchants domestically and internationally. Realex Payment is currently working with businesses to help them achieve secure card storage in a PCI DSS compliant environment, maintenance of up to date card details for recurring payment, multi-channel processing and expansion to new markets.
