Money transfer services provider Mobile Union has unveiled its online remittance service, dubbed mtxpress .
Via an SMS platform, Mobile Union’s service is set to enable people in the UK to transfer money abroad without the need to visit a retail location. The transaction can be performed after an online registration. The client can send money using a debit card, and the recipient will be notified via a SMS message that the money can be collected.
The UK holds a place in the top 10 remittance-originating countries worldwide, with approximately GBP 2.4 billion recorded outward remittances, according to the DFID UK Remittance Market Report.
The company will focus on the UK to Bangladesh market, where Mobile Union has collaborated with BRAC Bank, a financial services provider based in Bangladesh. This partnership will enable recipients to utilise the bank's network of locations across the country to receive money.
