Online transactions via Tenpay reach EUR 2.53 billion in Q2 2009 Wednesday 9 September 2009 | 12:23 PM CET

In Q2 2009, the volume of transactions made via the Chinese internet company Tencent's online payment service Tenpay reached EUR 2.53 billion (CNY 28.4 billion), according to JLM Pacific Epoch, quoting other media sources.

Tenpay is a service built on the existing financial infrastructure of bank accounts and credit cards, making use of proprietary fraud prevention systems. With over 26 million users, Tenpay serves buyers and sellers on paipai.com (Tencent's consumer-to-consumer e-commerce website), online retailers, online businesses, traditional offline businesses and online game companies including Perfect World, Kingsoft, NetEase and Guangyu Huaxia.
