US digital micro-transactions and payments services provider PlaySpan has signed a contract with Nickelodeon Kids and Family Virtual Worlds Group, an entertainment brand, to provide the latter with a virtual currency micro-transaction platform.
Under the terms of the deal, PlaySpan’s technology will power NeoCash, Nickelodeon's currency for virtual worlds, across multiple payment providers including credit cards and prepaid cards. Through PlaySpan’s subsidiary PayByCash, Nickelodeon will enable its customers to pay for their purchases via over 80 global payment methods.
The Nickelodeon Kids and Family Virtual Worlds Group develops and manages virtual world initiatives for Nickelodeon’s audience of children, teenagers and families, including the virtual community of Neopets, Petpet Park and new worlds in development, such as World of Neopia and Monkey World.
In August 2009, PlaySpan introduced the Spare Change Ultimate Payment Wall which enables social network game developers to integrate support for over 50 payment options, including PayPal, credit cards and pre-paid game cards.
