Visa, Japan Net Bank join forces for debit card program in Japan Monday 1 March 2010 | 08:59 AM CET

Financial services provider Japan Net Bank (JNB) and Visa have introduced a Visa debit card program in Japan.

The initiative enables JNB’s customers to use a virtual Visa debit card to make payments at any online merchant that accepts Visa globally. Upon a customer’s request, JNB will issue a unique 16-digit Visa debit account number which will draw funds from a nominated JNB bank account. Under the program, no plastic card will be issued. Cardholders can use the virtual Visa Debit card for purchases of up to USD 1,0001 and are valid for 10 days.

Currently, JNB has two million customers.
