PayPal teams up with Ingenico to expand in-store payment system Tuesday 17 January 2012 | 12:58 PM CET

Global provider of payment services Ingenico has entered an agreement with Paypal to allow merchants using Ingenico’s POS terminals to accept Paypal payment options. Thus, merchants with Ingenico’s i6xx series and iSc250/iSC350 devices will be able to accept both PayPal’s payment card and its alternative mobile phone number & PIN payment services.

PayPal’s offline payment strategy allows consumers with PayPal accounts to access their accounts to pay in retail stores. Consumers can either use a PayPal-branded plastic card or enter the mobile number associated with their accounts, along with a PIN, into the POS terminal.

Ingenico has already started to integrate PayPal’s payment card solution into its legacy Unicapt32 platform POS devices as well as its Telium 2 series POS devices.

In September 2011, PayPal has revealed plans to develop new payment technologies which will provide customers with an upgraded shopping experience and the trial will initially be run in five Home Depot stores.
