Adyen launches Magento payment module for Brazil

Tuesday 9 April 2013 00:45 CET | News

Netherlands-based global payment services company Adyen has inked a contract with e-commerce platform Magento, to make an Adyen payment module available on the latters e-commerce platform in Brazil.

Adyen has worked closely with E-Smart, a local Brazilian Magento provider, to develop an offering tailored to meet the Brazilian market. Adyen has also incorporated a series of features including Instalments, Portuguese language functionality and local payment methods.

The Brazilian market presents a variety of challenges to e-commerce merchants from a payments perspective. For instance, card processing via a Brazilian acquiring partner is crucial as 30 percent of all issued consumer debit and credit cards have not been enabled for international processing. In addition, local payment methods such as Boleto and installment-based transactions have rapidly grown in popularity. Paying by installment now accounts for almost 80 percent of all e-commerce purchases in Brazil.

Adyen supports all relevant sales channels, including online, mobile and POS, and can process over 200 different payment methods, 187 transaction currencies and 14 settlement currencies used across six continents. Adyen works with many global customers including SoundCloud, Getty Images, Benetton, KLM, PopCap Games, Greenpeace and Vodafone.
