Amazon Coins virtual currency launches in the UK

Amazon has launched its Coins virtual currency in the UK. Amazons Coin scheme, which is already available in the US since February 2013, allows Kindle Fire tablet owners to purchase virtual coins and redeem them to buy apps, games and in-app items on the Amazon.co.uk Appstore and on the firms tablet lineup.

According to Theinquirer.com, the online retailer said that it offers another way for app developers to drive traffic, downloads and increased monetization to their apps. Amazon Appstore developers will earn their standard 70 % revenue share when customers make purchases using Amazon Coins.

According to the Amazon Coin FAQ, one Amazon Coin is worth one cent, so an app that is valued at USD 2.99 is worth 299 Amazon Coins.

In recent news, Amazon launched a new shopping service which allows customers, buyers and other users to browse and pay for items online and using their Amazon credentials. The newly introduced service, dubbed Login and Pay with Amazon, streamlines how customers transact with online merchants and companies websites.
