Hukoomi to roll out QPay online payment platform

Qatar’s online government portal Hukoomi is to roll out an online payment platform, dubbed QPay, to enable users to make online transactions, according to the online media outlet thepeninsulaquatar.com.

The QPay online platform is set to offer users customs clearance, online recruitment services and personal documents processing.

The Hukoomi portal also provides information and news services from different media sources and online links and a user interface for public access. Hukoomi incorporates 100 government ministries and public bodies into one website.

According to the Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology in Qatar IctQatar, the volume of online government payments via Hukoomi has jumped to USD 274.6 million (QAR 1.1 billion) in 2010 compared to USD 122.7 million (QAR 447 million) in 2007.
