OpenCoin secures funding from Google Ventures, IDG Capital Partners

OpenCoin, a US-based open currency website which enables users to handle virtual money, has secured funding from Google Ventures and China-based IDG Capital Partners.

OpenCoin has developed the Ripple system, an open-source protocol for making payments and exchanging currencies. It accepts major global currencies, including its own ripples (or XRP) and Bitcoins.
