Paytm to secure USD 1.5 bln from SoftBank

Paytm is reportedly in talks with SoftBank to secure USD 1.2 to USD 1.5 billion in cash.

The funding would increase Paytm’s total valuatio from USD 7 billion to USD 9 billion. SoftBank would likely purchase some of their share from existing investors.

The news comes along with reports that SoftBank is looking to unload its stake in India’s Snapdeal in favour of investing in Flipkart.

Paytm may also buy FreeCharge as part of the deal, the report said.
