WePay upgrades checkout API

Tuesday 23 August 2011 07:48 CET | News

Online payments startup WePay has released the second iteration of its checkout API with subscriptions support, enabling sellers to apply payment processing to their businesses and their customers.

WePays enhanced API is aimed at developers and merchants who want to implement payment processing to sell items and/or services on their own website, marketplaces that need the ability to have their sellers make money or site owners and programmers who can now register users, open accounts for them and start accepting payments into those accounts.

API applications can now create pre-approved recurring payments to support use cases such as subscriptions or partial/variable payments. The payer approves the subscription on WePay and then the API application has the ability to charge the user on a recurring basis.

The company has also entered an agreement with Attendstar, an online ticketing and promotion platform. Under the terms of the deal, sellers using WePay can now benefit from the platforms approval process, advanced feature set and checkout system. With WePay integration, managers can sell tickets and collect payments directly into their own accounts. Additionally, Attendstar clients can have their own payment account within the system.
