French Provider of payment solutions Ingenico has launched a card payment system for public transportation with MasterCard M/ Chip Advance in Eskisehir, Turkey.

As part of the Esparacard project, Ingenico has designed and supplied both hardware and software payment services for the ticketing system. To be more specific, the system is set to use Ingenico’s POS terminals and certified MasterCard M/Chip Advance to enable contactless card payments.

The Esparacard project is the result of the collaboration between several financial and municipal institutions including Garanti Bankasi, Eskisehir Metropolitan Municipality, MasterCard, Asis and ILFER companies.

As a result of the project, all ticketing agents on the municipal and public buses and tramways will be able to use Ingenico’s POS terminals to encourage Eskisehir residents to use their Esparacard.

In order for this project to work, Ingenico has made a series of modifications to its POS terminals to accommodate the M/Chip Advance features. Therefore, personal cardholder information that is embedded on the Esparacard is recognized by the system using Ingenico’s terminals. The ticketing system also allows the use of the money loaded on the Esparacard at merchants who accept MasterCard cards.
