Israel: KIEDF, Kiva join forces to launch online microfinance services

Thursday 16 December 2010 08:10 CET | News

Kiva, a global micro-lending website, has closed an agreement with KIEDF (Koret Israel Economic Development Funds), a provider of philanthropic support for the Israeli economic private sector.

Under the new partnership, customers will be able to use the Kiva website in order to browse and lend money to predominantly female-owned small businesses throughout Israel. Kivas website (www.kiva.org ) enables a lender to make loans of at least USD 25 to support an entrepreneur. In addition, the specific progress of the loan can be tracked from initial funding to repayment. Upon receiving repayment, lenders can withdraw their funds or relend to another entrepreneur, thus continuing the lending cycle.

As a Kiva partner, KIEDF will share information about its borrowers so that Kiva lenders can finance their loans, enabling women entrepreneurs to develop their microbusinesses.
