According to World Bank statistics, Thai citizens working and studying abroad around were responsible for sending around USD 1.8 billion to Thailand in 2008. According to company representatives, the partnership between MoneyGram and CIMB Thai looks to provide money transfer services to an increasing number of customers in Thailand.
To send or receive money in Thailand or in other countries and territories in MoneyGram’s network, customers need to visit a MoneyGram agent location, fill in a form and show a photo identification to transfer funds.
In related news, MoneyGram recently announced expansion plans in Cambodia, where it has teamed up with Advanced Bank of Asia to provide its money transfer service via the bank’s branches. In 2008, MoneyGram added a home delivery service in Vietnam with its agent DongA Bank.
