US-based payment technology company Hypercom has entered a three-year agreement with German retail chain REWE Group.

Under the terms of the deal, REWE Group is expected to deploy 30,000 Artema Hybrid PIN Pad payment systems, powered by Hypercom. In addition, an initial deployment of 10,000 Hypercom systems has just been completed.

Artema Hybrid is set to feature a single slot hybrid card reader and integrated PIN Pad for magnetic stripe and chip card transactions. Additionally, the terminal is certified to the TA 7.0 chip-card specifications, recently introduced by the ZentralerKreditausschuss (ZKA) German banking association.

In a recent development, the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has selected Hypercom for its card payment system.
