PC-linked smart card reader supplier Advanced Card Systems (ACS) has upgraded its ACR122 NFC reader to supports the EZ-Online system. The EZ-Link cards are contactless smart cards based on the Sony FeliCa smartcard technology and used for the payment of public transportation fares in Singapore.

The upgraded ACR122 NFC reader developed by ACS allows EZ-Link card users to access the EZ-Online application over the internet; cardholders can thus check and print records for the 20 most recent transaction carried out via their EZ-Link cards, top-up an EZ-Link card from a bank account and load EZ-Coupons onto the EZ-Link card in order to redeem benefits at retail shops.

EZ-Online is a service developed by EZ-Link, a subsidiary of the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore which is in charge of managing the country’s contactless stored value smart card system. The latter is mainly used for payments on public buses and Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) trains.
