A study focusing on the usage of prepaid cards reveals that nearly 60 percent of customers across UK have purchased a gift card for another person in the last 12 months.

Of these, 30 percent have done so within the last six months. Customers do not consider costs for gift cards an impediment, since almost half of respondents think that the monthly fees for prepaid cards do not reach more than GBP1 in value, or some cards imply no costs at all.
More than 50 percent that used a prepaid card were willing to reload their card. This is especially the case of those that bought prepaid cards during the last six months.
Almost half of respondents turn to prepaid cards for online purchases.
The study titled UK Prepaid Cards - Usage and Awareness was conducted online by British Market Research Bureau between July and August 2008.
