Australian financial services provider ANZ Bank, the Australian University of Sydney and Visa have joined forces to issue a student ID card with Visa reloadable prepaid functionality .

The maximum reloadable daily balance amounts to EUR 635. The card can be used for cash withdrawals at ATMs that accept Visa-branded cards. Moreover, no fees for using ANZ ATMs are charged and University of Sidney students do not need to be existing ANZ customers or to open an ANZ deposit account.

The combined card enables students to employ a single card for ID, building access and day-to-day expenses. Among the common items which can be paid for using the card are textbooks as well as online academic resources.

The initiative follows a pilot study conducted in late 2009 with 2,000 students .
