CIMB Bank presently registers 29,000 such transactions per month from its 5.5 million customers, thestar.com reports. According to the banks representatives, CIMB commands almost 11 percent share of the e-debit market, which is expected to climb to almost 20 percent.
In order to encourage Malaysians to use the ATM card for e-debit transactions, the bank is participating in the second edition of CIMB Use & Win campaign, together with Malaysia Electronics Payments System (MEPS) and Carrefour Malaysia. In order to take part in the campaign, customers need to use their ATM cards to make purchases or pay bills of RM100 and above in a single receipt.
In Malaysia, the number of e-debit transactions reaches less than 5 million per year.
