The bpaid card is equipped with MasterCard PayPass technology allowing cardholders to pay by tapping their card at contactless-enabled terminals. Additionally, the card is not set to be personalised to the cardholder, allowing bpost to issue and activate it for use within minutes of purchase.
The bpaid card is processed by Cetrel in Luxembourg and uses Oberthur Technologies dual interface cards.
In November 2011, international payments company VocaLink has teamed up with Clear2Pay. Under the terms of the partnership, the two companies were set to enable banks to provide their customers with an inter-bank real-time payments service, with the inclusion of multi-channel service options such as mobile.
