The newly introduced technology will enable micropayments on the transport card used by over 30 million cardholders that ride the metro in the Greater Taipei Area, take intercity bus and river boat services, as well as use the parking lots and libraries in Taipei City.
The new Gemalto Celego card supports both contact and contactless functionalities, allows users to check their personal transaction records online, to make e-payments for government services and to make purchases over the internet. The new software also allows for expansion into Near Field Communication (NFC).
Gemalto delivers electronic passports and identity cards, two-factor authentication devices for online protection, smart credit/debit and contactless payment cards, as well as subscriber identification modules (SIM) and universal integrated circuit cards (UICC) in mobile phones.
