Elan Financial Services acquires credit cards assets of 28 financial institutions

Elan Financial Services, a business unit of US Bancorp, a provider of ATM and debit card processing services, has acquired the credit card assets of 28 financial institutions, which collectively have accounted for almost USD 700 million in outstanding balances.

The purchased has been made from FIA Card Services, a unit of Bank of America. The credit card portfolio includes small business and consumer credit cards. Elan Financial Services has revealed plans to continue to provide cards under their current names. Current card will be available until mid-2012, when Elan is expected to issue new cards.

The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed yet.
