First Data expands payment agreement with Getin Noble bank

US electronic commerce and payment processing company First Data has expanded its agreement with Poland-based financial institution Getin Noble Bank.

Under the terms of the deal, First Data will provide card issuing and payment processing services for the banks new contactless MasterCard PayPass debit card programme.

The MasterCard PayPass debit card will be issued and processed by First Data on behalf of the bank and features contactless technology. Cardholders can use the cards to make payments of EUR12.9 (50 zl) at retailers across Poland, by pressing the card against a terminal reader, without entering a PIN or signature.

The contactless MasterCard PayPass cards can also be used by cardholders to withdraw cash from an ATM and to pay for goods and services in shops. Moreover, the cards have online and PayPass contactless payments functionality and security technology EMV chip. The radio frequency identification (RFID) system allows the card to be read by contactless card readers enabling cardholders to make purchases.

First Data provides merchants, financial institutions and their customers with payment by debit or credit card, gift card, check or mobile phone, online or at the checkout counter.
