IDBI Bank, MasterCard to introduce the Global Currency Card

Indian financial services company IDBI Bank has teamed up with MasterCard to roll out a new version of their prepaid travel card, dubbed IDBI Bank Global Currency Card.

The newly launched card is set to be issued on the MasterCard platform and will be available in the USD currency. Additionally, the card will present similar features as the World Currency Card, IDBI Banks existing prepaid travel card, which has been issued on Visa`s platform.

Cardholders will be able to use their Global Currency Cards at more than 1.9 million MasterCard, Maestro or Cirrus ATMs for cash withdrawal and balance inquiry. Furthermore, the card can be used to make purchases in 210 countries which accept MasterCard. The card also allows consumers to shop online.

The Global Currency Card can be acquired by all IDBI Bank customers but also by other customers from any of the IDBI Bank branches or the associate Full Fledged Money Changers. The maximum amount of money which can be loaded into the card reaches USD 10, 000 a year for individuals and USD 25.000 per business trip.
