Ingenico, Visa payWave in contactless payment deployment in Russia

Wednesday 22 August 2012 10:58 CET | News

French-based provider of payment services Ingenico in collaboration with Visa payWave has finalized the deployment of Ingenico terminals across the retail chain Sedmoy Continent (The Seventh Continent) in the Russian Federation.

The terminals allow merchants to accept payments carried out via Visa payWave contactless cards. For payments under 1,000 rubles (around EUR 25), the transactions do not require any authentication, such as the cardholder’s signature or PIN code entry.

This project was implemented in partnership with VTB Bank, with the technical support - including payment system certification, integration of the ECR solution and testing - of MultiCarta, a processing company within the VTB Group.

The first supermarket to accept payWave contactless payments in Russia was the flagship store Seventh Continent in Moscow. By September 2012, the entire network of The Seventh Continent, numbering 156 stores, is set to be able to accept VISA payWave contactless payments.

Ingenico’s solution is based on an iPP320 terminal with an embarked contactless module.
