Worldwide provider of payment solutions Ingenico has completed the development of the terminal software needed for its terminals to accept contactless Visa payWave cards in Germany.

Under the terms of the agreement with Visa, Ingenico is set to launch in Germany its Telium2 Terminal Serie. The latter includes devices which accept payments carried out via contactless Visa payWave cards.

Ingenico is in the process of distributing the Telium2 Terminal Series, which includes the Ingenico iCT250, iWL250 and iPP350 models, to German MNOs and other acquirers of the software.

Visa payWave is using near field communication (NFC) wireless communication technology and EMV-level security to provide data exchange between the contactless Visa chip card and the contactless reader of the terminal.

The Ingenico product line is expected to cover the entire spectrum from countertop terminals to portable and mobile devices as well as base terminals for retailers

The technology from Ingenico is aimed at small businesses, such as kiosks, snack booths, while also focusing on cafés, fuel stations, ticket booths and smaller-sized shops.
