Situated in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the office will be responsible for developing JCB card issuing and merchant acquiring business through licensed partners in the Middle East and African markets.
The first JCB card in the Middle East was issued in Bahrain by Credimax in 2005. To enhance its acceptance network especially in the UAE, JCB had signed merchant acquiring agreements with partners such as Mashreq Bank in 1996, Network International in December 2006 and National Bank of Abu Dhabi in 2008.
JCB’s acceptance network includes over 18 million merchants and over a million cash advance locations in 190 countries and territories. JCB cards are now issued in 15 countries and territories, with more than 69.3 million cardholders.
