MoneyGram, Visa join forces for cash-to-card money transfer program

Wednesday 12 May 2010 11:29 CET | News

Global money transfer company MoneyGram and Visa have entered a partnership to launch a cash-to-Visa card program set to enable users to transfer money from MoneyGram locations in the US to Visa account holders outside the US.

At launch, the program will enable funds to be received on Visa-branded credit and debit cards issued by Banco Industrial, a Visa bank and MoneyGram agent in Guatemala.

The cash-to-card money transfers are processed through Visa’s network and funds are transferred to confirmed Visa debit and credit accounts via Banco Industrial. Once funds are delivered to the card, recipients can gain access to the money from any Visa-branded location.

MoneyGram’s cash-to-card service will be made available at most US MoneyGram locations, including the 20 agents for remittances in Guatemala.
