Myanmar Payment Union, JCB International sign MoU

Payment network Myanmar Payment Union (MPU) and JCB International (JCBI), a Japan-based global payment brand and credit card issuer and acquirer, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to build a JCB card acceptance network and issue JCB cards in Myanmar through the member banks of MPU.

Under the terms of the MoU, JCBI aims to expand JCB card acceptance early in 2013 and to launch JCB card issuing program in the near future.

MPU has been established by the Central Bank of Myanmar with 17 local banks to promote the acceptance and issuance of payment cards in the country.
