US provider of smart card-based services Oberthur Technologies has renewed its existing partnership with Hungary-based financial institution OTP Bank, in a bid to provide contactless payment city cards to the citizen of Pécs, a Hungarian city.

The citizen card is an international banking card that is set to be used for payments and other transactions. The card is issued in a prepaid format and can be refilled online or with cash in an OTP Bank branch.

The contactless payment city card is currently accepted by the 150 million merchants in the Maestro ecosystem.

OTP Bank deployed the PayPass contactless banking card payment technology in Hungary in September 2009.

In recent news, Oberthur Technologies has made its MasterCard M/Chip Advance product available to its customers.
