Austrian cashless payments provider PayLife and Luxembourg-based processor of card-based payments SIX Card Solutions have completed the migration of merchant-related systems and debit cards towards Europe.

The migration of the retail and merchant-related systems, including 65,000 PayLife POS terminals and 16,000 ‘Quick’ e-wallet terminals, had ended in May 2011. During the same month, the migration of the entire portfolio of 8.2 million debit and bank charge cards had begun and was completed by October 2011.

SIX Card Solutions has been managing the all payments made via Maestro-branded debit cards and transactions completed at PayLife POS terminals since October 2011. Additionally, all cash withdrawals and related transactions made via the Austrian ATM network, which includes approximately 7,600 ATMs, have already been processed by SIX since March 2011.

The project has begun in April 2008, when PayLife has selected SIX Card Solutions for to handle its debit cards, ATMs and POS terminals processing. The migration to SIX’s Swiss platform spanned three and a half years and a total effort of 180 person years, highlighting the scale of the project.
