Wednesday 23 March 2011 11:42 CET | News

Canada-based financial services provider Scotiabank has added the Visa payWave contactless payment feature to its line of credit cards.

As a result, Scotiabank is expected to enable Visa payWave cardholders to make purchases by waving their card in front of a merchant terminal. The enhancement is currently available on select Scotiabank credit cards, including ScotiaGold Passport Visa, Scotia Momentum Visa and SCENE Visa.

Scotiabank cardholders can make contactless transactions at several retailers, such as Petro-Canada, Rexall Pharma Plus pharmacies, Cineplex Entertainment movie theatres, Jean Coutu, Rabba Fine Foods, M&M Meat Shops or Second Cup.

Scotiabank activates in over 50 countries and territories, including Canada, the Caribbean and Central America, Mexico, South America and Asia.

In November 2010 , Digicel, a mobile operator in the Caribbean, Central America and the Pacific region, has teamed up with Scotiabank to launch a mobile money service in Haiti, dubbed TchoTcho Mobile.
