Monday 17 January 2011 10:11 CET | News

The Czech Bank Card Association (BCA) has joined EAST (the European ATM Security Team) as the national representative member for the Czech Republic.

EAST is national representation from 24 European countries. However, EAST still seeks members from Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania and Slovenia. Both Canada and Russia are represented within EAST as non-SEPA members.

The BCA was formed as the Interbank Payment Card Association to coordinate activities of the Czech banking community and its membership includes 16 local financial institutions.

The BCA issues quarterly statistics concerning indicators of development in the area of payment cards in the Czech Republic. BCA Statistics indicators include only member institutions of the BCA and are grouped into several areas, such as card issuance, installed ATMs, area of card acceptance at locations and development of online card acceptance.
