Turkcell, Garanti Bank roll out Cep-T ParaCard m-payment offering

Turkish mobile operator Turkcell and local financial institutions Garanti Bank have jointly launched a prepaid card, dubbed Cep-T ParaCard. The service is a SIM-based offering that can be used with any mobile device.

As a result, Turkcell customers can purchase the Cep-T ParaCard and subscribe to the Cep-T Para service from any Turkcell Communication Centre (TIMs) and top-up money to the card via the Garanti PoS. Customers are expected to be able to use their cards for payments worldwide wherever MasterCard is accepted.

Cep-T Para subscribers can use the newly-launched service to transfer money to any operators mobile subscribers. Recipients can withdraw their money from Garanti ATMs by using a secure code they receive.

Turkcell counts over 33.1 million subscribers.

In recent news , Turkcell has entered an agreement with US contactless microprocessor-based smart card manufacturer On Track Innovations (OTI). Turkcell has chosen OTI’s Contactless Payment and NFC Insert (COPNI) mobile payment service for its NFC program, dubbed “Turkcell Cep-T Cüzdan”.
