UAE: Hypercom brings EMV card payments to Dubais metro stations

Global technology provider Hypercom has completed the EMV certification of its Artema Modular payment systems and Artema Compact countertop terminals across 49 Dubai Metro stations in the UAE.

As a result, travelers on Dubai’s urban railway network are expected to be provided with the ability of carrying out ticket payments using their chip and PIN cards. Thales, the integrator in charge of the Dubai Metro fare collection system, selected Hypercom’s self-service and countertop payment systems for this implementation.

Hypercom’s Artema Modular enables online and offline chip card payments and is compliant with EMV Level 1 and 2 requirements and it is compatible with all Visa and MasterCard transaction types, local and international e-purse, credit and debit card schemes.

In recent news , French payment services provider Ingenico is set to acquire Hypercom for USD 54 million in cash.
